Bob Dylan’s new album Shadows in the Night comes out February 3, and it’s a collection of Frank Sinatra standards, because Dylan wrote “Blowin’ in the Wind” at age 21 and doesn’t have to prove shit to anyone. The track list, as well as a preview song, have been released, and they’re both below.
- I’m a Fool to Want You
-
The Night We Called It a Day
-
Stay With Me
-
Autumn Leaves
-
Why Try to Change Me Now
-
Some Enchanted Evenings
-
Full Moon and Empty Arms
-
Where Are You?
-
What’ll I Do
-
That Lucky Old Sun
Embedded below is Dylan’s take on “Full Moon and Empty Arms.” I find it strangely beautiful; you can hear every day of Dylan’s 73 years in his voice, and he imbues his delivery with the longing that the song requires. A full album of Sinatra covers is an odd choice, but this is the same guy who released a Christmas album a couple years ago because fuck it, why not?
