You’ll never guess the hilarious results.
Justice League was far from a perfect movie. But one thing stood out to anyone who watched it: Henry Cavill’s digitally removed mustache. And many a joke was made about it.
Needless to say, the rather expensive effects used to digitally remove Henry Cavill’s soup strainer from the reshoot’s scenes were a bit underwhelming for their cost. And that gets really funny when you realize that someone with a $500 used computer taught an A.I. to shave the man’s lip post-release.
While it does take a while to generate the shots, the number of pictures your average actor has floating around the internet make it very possible. Hell, some less-than-scrupulous types have been using the exact same face swapping technology to generate fake porn videos with actor’s faces.
As to what this means in the long run for visual effects, well, some things are definitely going to become easier. Like not making Henry Cavill look like he’s sneering all the time when he doesn’t want to shave.
