Oh God yes: Collider is reporting that Quentin Tarantino will film The Hateful Eight after all, after a long and winding road that involved a script leak, a lawsuit, and a live reading of the finished script. The film will star many of the actors who participated in the reading, including Bruce Dern, Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Madsen, Amber Tamblyn, Walton Goggins, Kurt Russell, James Remar, and Zoe Bell. Tim Roth wasn’t mentioned, although he was at the live reading, and the script does call for “a transplanted Englishman,” so it might just be an oversight.
Via Collider:
The story of The Hateful Eight takes place in post-Civil War Wyoming and tells the story of a small group of stagecoach passengers who are stranded during a blizzard. A large chunk of the film takes place in a bar, and the characters include a couple of bounty hunters (Jackson and Russell), a Confederate general (Dern), a cowboy (Madsen), a transplanted Englishman[,] a soldier (Goggins), and a female prisoner (Tamblyn).
I’d like to point out that when I wrote about the live reading back in April, my closing line was “Hopefully the reading goes so well that Tarantino will move ahead with filming.” So I’m, like, 60% responsible for this. You’re welcome.
