One leg of that journey is the Guild Wars 2 “Living World Atlas”, an interactive site designed to lead fans through a process of discovery that illustrates the game’s current living world storyline. It’s a narrative that began more than a year ago when players first recognised Scarlet as the enemy, seeing her become a major threat to Tyria and ultimately rally an army of dark allies to attack Lion’s Arch. Through the “Living World Atlas”, users explore this storyline as it unfolded in the game through videos, art, screenshots, audio clips and other content. They also uncover new content from the coming release “Battle for Lion’s Arch,” getting glimpses into what exactly is Scarlet’s nefarious aim and how her plan may play out come 4th March.
NCSOFT and ArenaNet also today released a video trailer that teases “Battle for Lion’s Arch”. The video shows the continuing devastation of the city by Scarlet’s army, made up of Tyria’s most threatening races and an arsenal of deadly war machines. Central to her attack has been a massive airship drill, which as the video reveals continues to hover over the city and bore deep beneath its surface. In a fitting end, the trailer becomes a call to arms, exhorting players to “gather as one and take back Lion’s Arch”, the historic yet now devastated city dating back to the first Guild Wars.
Guild Wars 2 is a visually stunning MMO that offers players the epic grandeur of a massive role playing environment combined with innovative combat mechanics, dynamic events, and customised personal storytelling. Building on the success of Guild Wars, NCSOFT and game developer ArenaNet have created an MMO that lets gamers play the way they want, while at the same time retaining the no-subscription-fee business model that made the originalGuild Wars so popular.
