GPUs From California Truck Heist Discovered In Vietnam Retailer

Look, Larry, have you ever heard of Vietnam?

You may or may not remember last Summer’s great GPU Truck Heist, but it seems there’s movement on the missing GPUs. Because some of those cards are now turning up, some in unusual places.

Per a report by VideoCardz, some of those cards have shown up at a retailer in Vietnam. The retailer in question is known for packing GPUs in mining rigs, and just so happened to use some of those missing cards in their builds. In turn, customers that bough those rigs found out that they couldn’t register their card, and more importantly, that the card’s serial number was one of the ones flagged by EVGA. One customer purchased two Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti GPUs from the retailer, only to find that both were flagged. Various customer stated that the store gave their cards a one month warranty, in addition to the amazing price you’d expect for something that was stolen.

VideoCardz, in a bid to avoid having people explicitly buy stolen cards, didn’t divulge the retailer these customers bought their hardware from. They do, however, state that it’s not some small retailer, but rather a large, somewhat well known chain. It’s also likely that unaware customers think they’re getting a good deal on hardware with this, when the reality is far from it.
