It depends.
Look, leaks happen. And eventually, you just can’t control that anymore. And it’s certainly been happening to Google recently. There have been a number of leaks of their Pixel 3, but none quite so great as one of their test units being left in the back seat of a Lyft.
Android Police was sent several images of the wayward Pixel 3 XL by the Lyft Driver. The driver, “Alligator” was already a Pixel 2 owner, so he recognized the next iteration of the phone. He snapped the pics, then returned the errant phone back to its owner.

The Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL are set to be unveiled at their Google launch event in New York City on October 9th. There, uh, isn’t much mystery left for an unveiling, but whatever.
