It starts.
There was little fanfare about it, but Google launched a deal exclusive to YouTube Premium members in the US and UK. If you sign up for one month of Stadia Pro, you get Stadia Premiere Edition for free. That includes a free Chromecast and Stadia controller, a bundle normally costing $99. Stadia Pro can be cancelled by the user at any time
At best, this is a free opportunity to try out the best version of the service on offer. At worst, it’s a free Chromecast and otherwise difficult-to-use-on-anything-else controller. At worse than worse, this is an opportunity to test out how good your internet service really is.
Honestly, this is probably an attempt to see if they can hook in new users before making a final decision on the service. After all, Google’s well known for killing certain products and services if they don’t meet certain goals.
Regardless, YouTube Premium is $12 a month. Stadia Pro is $10 a month. So, all told, you’re basically getting a $77 discount on the hardware. Which isn’t bad.
