Get it While it’s Hot: MoviePass has Annual Deal for $7/Month

MoviePass

That’s the sound of AMC staring daggers at their back.

You remember MoviePass; the guys that were trying to do for theaters what Netflix did for home video? Well, they’ve got a pretty decent deal going right now. You can get a year-long subscription set at $7 a month (well, more like $7.50 after processing fees).

The move comes after a successful yet trying beginning for the company. They met their subscriber goals, but had difficulty getting the necessary cards to those subscribers. Not to mention all the trouble they had with AMC. Nonetheless, they managed to swell to over 600,000 subscribers.

While they’re not out of the woods yet (they’re currently trying to raise another $100 million to get them over the initial speed bumps), they may be on their way to accomplishing their goal. It’s just make-or-break for them right now. And considering the deal, you might be the one to push MoviePass into the mainstream. Assuming all goes well, of course. And the whole thing doesn’t fall apart like a house of cards. They’re in a pretty precarious position right now, hence the deal. But that can all work to the end user’s advantage, just as much as it can to the service. I guess we’ll see.
