People love Boba Fett with a bloodthirsty passion, even if the character only appeared for a handful of minutes in two Star Wars films. How someone that makes their first appearance in the Star Wars Holiday Special earns such elevated status is beyond me, but I’ll admit that he is pretty darn cool. We will forget about the prequel films as showing the childhood of any bad ass character only takes away from his cool factor.
Still, Empire Strikes Back is objectively the best film of the series, and having Boba Fett in it sure helps. But what people don’t know is that the armor worn by everyone’s favorite bounty hunter not named Dog was originally all white. Early screen tests way back in 1978 show Fett in an all-white armor that sits on an off-white jumper.
Why the all white? Rumor has it that Boba Fett was initially meant to have a Stormtrooper background, with the character himself being some form of elite member, thus looking slightly different and with better weapons and gear. You can check out the screen test below:
Gentle Giant has produced a bust of this original Boba Fett prototype and will have it available for sale during San Diego Comic-Con. No word on the price yet, but the money in my wallet is already burning a hole through my pockets. You can check out a number of images from the bust below:
