Gears Tactics Released Today & This Is Your Reminder That Gears Tactics Exists

Gears Tactics released today, and Microsoft believes in the game so much that they made it free to everyone with a “Game Pass” subscription on PC

Gears Tactics exists. I know that might sound weird to say but I can honestly say that this is probably the second time that I’ve ever heard of the game outside a brief plug during an E3 event. Look, I was at the past several E3 shows listening to Microsoft pitch games and I still can’t remember anything about this one.

That’s probably because I don’t think there is a single person out there that asked for a Gears of War tactics based video game. Not even the strange people that play weird indie games on Steam wanted this. People who love Gears of War want more Gears of War. They want action, cover-based mechanics, online action, and games the move along at a brisk pace.

People who love tactics games are weird, sure, but they usually have a plethora of tiles, mostly from Japan, to enjoy. Those few in the middle stick to XCOM. What I’m trying to say is that the Gears fans and tactics fans probably don’t even exist in enough numbers to make a venn diagram.

What’s funny is that the game is only being released today on the PC. There is no word on the Xbox One version even though both versions were supposed to launch at the same time. In fact, we don’t have a release date for said Xbox One version which is pretty odd.

Gears Tactics will run you a cool $60 over on Steam which feels a bit steep for a game of this nature, especially with many reviews saying it all wears a bit thin by the end. Still, it’s a pretty looking game and I plan on checking it out when it goes on sale sometime in the future as XCOM just dropped a new game on us too.
