Game Of The Year 2021 Award Winners

It’s time we look back on another year and feature the very best the gaming industry had to offer. As always, our list might look a little different than those large corporate sites as we played a lot more indie and lesser featured titles. Although, we did get to some major games simply because it was a pretty light year on big releases.

Our criteria for each game is that it must have been released in 2021 and that someone on the team played it and is happy defending their position to the rest of the team. There’s nothing quit like kicking off the year with a lot of arguing!

If you think we got something wrong, or if you think there is a game that we missed, let us know in the comments or yell at us on social media like you guys and gals love to do. So, with that said, here are are all of our Game Of The Year winners for their given categories!

Best Shooter:

Halo Infinite

It been a long time since I’ve seen a community rise from the ashes and share their nostalgic youth with a new generation. Halo Infinite brought so many people together and while a departure from the series, it still feels like Halo. Also, that free multiplayer that actually worked in an age of broken releases counts for a lot!

Best Action Game:

Metroid Dread

This is the Metroid game that the world has been waiting for since Metroid Prime and Metroid super-fans have been waiting for since Super Metroid. It’s rare a game delivers on every promise and pushes the genre forward. Easily and instant classic that is a must-own for Switch owners!

Best Racing Game:

Forza Horizon 5

Amazing graphics, great weather effects, and the first true next gen racer we’ve got. Forza Horizon 5 is a masterclass on how to create the perfect arcade racer that players well be playing for years to come!

Best Co-Op Game

It Takes 2

It seems like for a few years co-op focused games were few and far between. It Takes 2 shows that the genre is alive and well and the game easily ranks as quite possibly the greatest co-op game ever made. The fun never stops and it’ll help bring you closer together with whoever you play it with!

Building on everything that made its predecessors classics of the genre, Age of Empires IV brings real-time strategy back into primetime just as it was going extinct. Documentary style video segments before battles help educate alongside all the fun. There’s enough content here to keep fans going for years to come. Wololo!

Best Puzzle Game:

Unpacking

A zen puzzle title that hits harder than any puzzle game has a right too. Seriously, when’s the last time a cozy looking puzzler dropped thought-provoking moments on the player? It’s a short title that’s meant to be such, but it’s one that will linger with you long after its over.

A game that anyone can get lost with Luna’s Fishing Garden is a title that’s utterly wholesome, relaxing, and the perfect game to play on a lazy Sunday afternoon with a cup of tea. Best Mobile Game:

Pokemon Unite

The MOBA genre has become a monster that feels hard to get into in 2021. So many game feature huge rosters, terrible communities, and cash-grab mechanics. So, color us surprised when we fell in love with Pokemon Unite. Easy to pick up, lots of fun, and a constant tricke of new content makes for a colorful experience on the go.
