WHAT THEY SAY
A first-person survival-horror game developed by Creative Assembly due for release in late 2014, Alien: Isolation will be available on PS4, Xbox One, Wii U, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, and will be set on a decommissioned trading station on the fringes of space. Invoking the spirit of Ridley Scott’s classic 1979 film, you’ll be tasked with avoiding the ruthless Xenomorph stalking the shadows.
WHAT WE SAY
It has been a long time since we last had a game in the Alien franchise that did the series justice. It would seem as the movies went to crap, so the games did as well. What we’ve seen from Alien: Isolation so far has peaked our interest. Taking cues from the original film, the game has intense horror written all over it. This is one title that all should be on the lookout for, scarecam YouTuber’s especially.
WHAT THEY SAY
The next installment of the Assassin’s Creed franchise. Assassin’s Creed: Unity will be released on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. A sister game called Assassin’s Creed Comet is also targeted for a 2014 release for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, but has not been confirmed as of yet.
WHAT WE SAY
The Assassin’s Creed series has run its course for us after part two. With 10 studios working on the title, we fear it may turn into a focus grouped mess of mediocrity. Still, a true next-gen Assassin’s Creed game could surprise, especially if the series gets back to what its title purports.
WHAT THEY SAY
Batman: Arkham Knight is currently under development by Rocksteady studios. Arkham Knight will be available October 14, 2014 on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC, making a clean generational console jump. Gotham is all new and much larger, and becuase of this be ready to take to the streets in the Batmobile. Experience all new styles of gameplay.
WHAT WE SAY
Origins aside, the main Arkham series has yet to disappoint us in its execution and storytelling. Now that the final game in the series is back in the hands of Rocksteady, and coming to next-gen platforms, you bet we are excited. We can;t wait to see this at E3 even if the game has already been pushed back into early 2015. Looks like getting behind the wheel of the Batmobile will have to wait.
WHAT THEY SAY
As of this writing, nothing. EA has been tight-lipped about the project with the only information that we have gathered came from a leaked trailer of the game.
WHAT WE SAY
We haven’t been excited about a Battlefield game in quite some time. From what we have seen the focus has shifted considerably. Gone is the rough and gruff world of burly soldiers on a war-torn battlefield. Hardline takes a more 80s television action approach pitting cops vs robbers.
WHAT THEY SAY
Sid Meier’s Civilization: Beyond Earth is a full-fledged sequel game to Civilization V. The game starts with Humanity’s first venture into Space and their contact with Alien races. The game will be much more tech focused than previous Civilization games, this time allowing many more tech options.
WHAT WE SAY
This is the spiritual successor to Alpha Centauri and that game is one of our favorite games of all time. In fact, it’s so good that many of us here still play it on an almost regular basis. If Beyond Earth even comes close to capturing the feel of Alpha Centauri then count us excited.
WHAT THEY SAY
Dragon Age: Inquisition will be built on a new RPG engine using DICE’s Frostbite 2 technology as a foundation. This will enable BioWare to deliver a more expansive world, better visuals, more reactivity to player choices, and more customization.
WHAT WE SAY
Never have we seen a series have such an incredible début that was loved by both critics and fans and have a sequel that performed so poorly. We are still excited for more stories to be told, so we are excited to see what the team at Bioware can do.
WHAT THEY SAY
Bethesda has officially announced The Evil Within, the first game from Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami’s studio Tango Gameworks. The Evil Within is a survival horror title due to arrive on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC and next-generation consoles in 2014.
WHAT WE SAY
Is the world ready for a true return to survival horror? We think it is, and RE creator Shinji Mikami is just the man to pull it off. It has been a long time since the RE series has been considered survival horror, so it’s nice to see something all new from the man that helped shape the genre. Be ready for a ton of scare-cam LPs.
WHAT THEY SAY
The Turtle Rock-developed game will be a sci-fi multiplayer-focused shooter heading to PS4, Xbox One and PC in autumn. Evolve is promising to offer a new kind of multiplayer experience. Clearly taking inspiration from its previous project, Evolve is a sci-fi multiplayer-focused shooter that will pit a four-player crew of alien hunters against a separate player controlled monster that increases in strength over a series of matches.
WHAT WE SAY
You had us at Left 4 Dead developers. Left 4 Dead was one of the most rewarding multiplayer experiences that has ever graced us. It encouraged players to work together in a small team. Evole looks to drop the zombies while adding some amazing beasts. This is one of the most anticipated games here in the office.
WHAT THEY SAY
Halo 5: Guardians is a bigger effort than Halo 4. That applies to the content and scope of the game, as well as the technology in what’s now a brand new and more powerful engine. Certainly there are some core elements carried over from prior games, but we’ve invested a huge effort in retooling our tech to take full advantage of the Xbox One’s hardware and ecosystem to create worlds and experiences worthy of next-gen.
WHAT WE SAY
Halo has always been a staple of the Xbox Brand since the consoles inception. While the games have lost its way and began giving us weak and short single player campaigns, we have high hopes for this new entry. With Xbox lingering in second place, a stong showing from Halo 5 could be the push the system needs.
WHAT THEY SAY
Nearly two years after it unveiled an HD concept at E3 2011, Nintendo revealed its early thoughts and visual intentions for The Legend of Zelda on Wii U in a Nintendo Direct video on January 23, 2013.
WHAT WE SAY
It’s Zelda, a staple that has graced nearly every console Nintendo has produced. It’s a title that’s certain to sell systems and while we know absolutely nothing about it, we do know that it will be at E3 in some shape or form. We are looking forward to getting back to Hyrule after a lackluster Skywrd Sword.
WHAT THEY SAY
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain picks up 9 years after the events of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes with Big Boss waking up from a coma. Many supernatural elements are shown in the trailer, along with several connections to Moby Dick.
WHAT WE SAY
While not officially scheduled to be at E3, it wouldn’t surprise us if Konami made the game its centerpiece at the show. With the release of Ground Zeroes, now would be the perfect time for some hands on gameplay.
WHAT THEY SAY
Mortal Kombat 10 is an upcoming fighting game announced on June 2, 2014. Designed by NetherRealm, Mortal Combat 10 pits a roster of characters against one another in a to-the-death tournament.
WHAT WE SAY
After a stunning début trailer that helped to shake up thing in the MK world we are finally going to get a chance to see this game at E3 in a few days. Series creator Ed Boon has announced via his twitter that we will be seeing two all new characters to the franchise. AS fighting game fans we can’t wait for this next-gen treatment.
WHAT THEY SAY
Some chains can never be broken. I lost 15 years. Buried alive. Erased. You left me rotting in that hell hole and never looked back. But you can’t outrun the past, and when it catches up, when all your lies collapse around you, I’ll be there sifting through the wreckage. You owe me.
WHAT WE SAY
The uncharted series has always been a strong seller. This new entry, the first in the next-gen is sure to offer players more of what they know and love. Few details have been released, so expect some major news at E3.
