Friday the 13th game delayed until 2017

The Friday the 13th: The Game was supposed to launch this year, just in time for Halloween. It was the perfect fit for this little game that could, but it looks as if it’s going to miss its anticipated release.

The game has now been pushed back into 2017, but it’s probably for the best. The delay will allow the team to add a single-player component to the game which is something I’m thankful for.

Multiplayer only games are a hard sell for someone like me that needs that narrative structure. This delay is mainly to address that issue, as the game originally pitched as a multiplayer on experience.

I’m excited the team is listening to fans as Friday the 13th makes perfect sense as a single-player game, especially when you could treat the game as the next film in the series.

Gun Media studio head Wes Keltner stated that “We want everyone to be assured that coming to our decision to delay was no easy matter, but we believe that the positives far outweigh the negatives. We’ve been reading day in and day out on our social media feeds that single player and Tommy Jarvis were in such a demand that we couldn’t ignore our fans.

This news should be very exciting for Kickstarter backers, because if you helped fund the game you are getting the single player component free of charge. If you waited you are going to be paying a little more as the MSRP has increased to $40 for the digital edition.
