“You should’ve gone for the head, yo!”
They’ve been teasing it for a while, but Epic launched the Avengers: Endgame event in Fortnite today.
The event has players spit into two sides: Thanos with his Chitauri warriors, and the Avengers. The mode is special, with players being able to respawn until a certain condition is met.
oPlayers on Team Thanos all start off as Chitauri, with the first of them to find an Infinity Stone turning into Thanos. Once all Infinity Stones are found, Team Hero loses the ability to respawn, and Team Thanos now has a new objective: wiping out the remaining hero players. If Thanos gets taken down, another Chitauri will become him after a short wait, too, so just taking Thanos down isn’t enough for the Heroes.
Each Infinity Stone found not only buffs Thanos, but provides a higher health cap for the entire team. For Thanos, though, each stone has a perk:
- Reality Stone (Red) = Heath & Shields doubled (1000->2000)
- Soul Stone (Orange) = Siphon activated (grants Thanos shields only)
- Mind Stone (Yellow) = Jump height doubled
- Space Stone (Blue) = Ground Pound AOE size tripled, damage x6 Time
- Stone (Green) = Big knockback added to each hit, damage x3 Power
- Stone (Purple) = Laser damage x6
The goal for Team Hero is to find all of the Avengers items and take Thanos and his army down. Players on the team start with a map that leads to one of the Mythic-grade Avengers weapons, though they have to search for the others in chests.
The event is limited time, but has no stated end date.
