Trucks are, well, pretty expensive nowadays. And that’s not mentioning the cost of refueling them; most have large engines for the sake of power, and given their size and weight, they take a fair amount of gas even with modern fuel efficiency methods. Which brings us to Ford’s 2022 Maverick pickup truck.
The Maverick is a hybrid pickup truck that, according to the company, gets 40 mpg city and boasts a 500 mile range on a single tank of gas. More importantly, it’s affordable; the base price is $19,995, with a destination fee of $1,495, bringing the total to $21,495. There are some caveats; the bed is short at 4.5 feet in length. But it’s what Ford calls a “FlexBed”; the bed provides multiple mounting points for DIY solutions for hauling cargo, and will fit standard home improvement store supplies with a little ingenuity.
Granted, it’s probably not what someone who needs a work truck or the like would choose. But it is a very convincing offer for those looking for an entry level truck to do “truck things” or have broader requirements in such a vehicle. And the price is certainly very hard to ignore.
