Football Hall Of Fame Coach, Broadcaster John Madden Dies At Age 85

John Madden

EA to ensure he lives in same licensing Hell Tom Clancy lives in.

The man, the legend, the meme, John Madden has passed away at age 85. According to NFL officials, he passed suddenly, Tuesday evening, and they did not state a cause of death, if one is even known at this time.

While his decade coaching the Oakland Raiders was his claim to fame, his career as a broadcaster made him a household name. Even more so when that name was attached to the world of Football video games, most notably EA’s Madden series

EA Sports even had a tribute to him on their Twitter:

John Madden

Granted, it probably doesn’t say much about EA when many of the responses are dragging them for their… “aggressive” monetization practices, but it’s still nice that they paid tribute to John Madden in the wake of his passing.

Also, the internet won’t be forgetting the man anytime soon, in part thanks to those games.

Madden was a longtime resident of Pleasanton, California. He celebrated his 62nd wedding anniversary with his wife, Virginia, just two days before his passing. He is survived by his wife, Virgina, and their two sons, Joseph and Michael.
