The first trailer for the new James Bond film, Spectre, hit the web today. It doesn’t give away much in terms of plot details, but it’s plenty tantalizing, due in no small part to Christoph Waltz’s mellifluous voice. Check it out below.
You know what I love about the Bond films? The titles. Not that they’re all perfect – Quantum of Solace was and still is a shitty title – but that the franchise doesn’t dumb it down for the audience. Let me give you an example: the most recent film in the Divergent series, Insurgent, was saddled with the ungainly, rhyming title of The Divergent Series: Insurgent, because the studio knows that Divergent‘s fanbase is so fucking stupid that if they see a trailer with Tris and Four and Jeanine, they’ll still wonder what the hell they’re looking at it if the title of the first film isn’t wedged into the title of the second. Imagine if Bond films were released by Summit. We’d be looking at James Bond – Part 24: Spectre or some shit.
Divergent sucks.
