Marvel has dropped the first photos from the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok to Entertainment Weekly, and boy are they colorful!
There are a number of thing to note here including an almost unrecognizable Cate Blanchett as Hela. It took me a few takes to realize it was her under the very cool look. But the real news here is our first glimpse of the legendary Jeff Goldblum as the Grandmaster!
Director Taika Waititi is really killing it with the amazing style and color palette on display in the film. Marvel movies have always had a focus on color and vibrancy, even when the whole world was falling apart (something DC seems to have missed), but Thor: Ragnarok looks to be on overdrive on a level of Flash Gordon.
The film seems like a love letter to the 80s, which in my book isn’t such a bad thing. With Marvel so deep into its movie universe audience fatigue is bound to set in, so keeping things fresh and taking risks is important.
