EMTEC Showing GEM Box Microconsole at E3 2016

$99 device provides instant, hassle-free access to AAA and casual video games and media libraries through GameFly Streaming, Android Gaming via Google Play and PC mirroring

EMTEC may not be a name known to most, but we have run into them before on the the convention circuit; most notably last year at CES in Las Vegas. The company is know taking the next big step and having a presence at E3 this summer and will be demonstrating the GEM Box (Gaming-Entertainment-Multimedia), the all-in-one gaming and entertainment microconsole, at the Devolver Digital “Parking Lot of Dreams and Awesomeness,” located across the street from the Los Angeles Convention Center. The EMTEC GEM Box will also launch this summer for $99, which includes the device, a Bluetooth gaming controller and a one-month subscription to the GameFly Streaming service.

The EMTEC GEM Box includes the Android-based microconsole as well as a Bluetooth wireless controller. Also included will be four pre-loaded Gameloft games so gamers can get playing right away. The EMTEC GEM Box supports up to four Bluetooth controllers for multiplayer action, while a gyroscopic remote control with physical QWERTY keyboard for motion-based gaming and media playback will also be available separately. The microconsole’s user interface has been built from the ground up to streamline control, including an intuitive virtual keyboard for web browsing and text input via gamepad.

The EMTEC GEM Box brings games straight from the cloud to the living room to provide a huge variety of high definition gaming – from kid-friendly casual games to core AAA fare – without the cost or complexity of a standard console. GameFly Streaming features HD graphics and award-winning titles from publishers like Bandai Namco, Capcom, Codemasters and Warner Bros. Interactive. The flexible subscription-based service lets players instantly access hit video game series including Tomb Raider, LEGO, Batman Arkham, Hitman, Tekken, Borderlands, Saint’s Row, BlazBlue, Sleeping Dogs, Alan Wake, Red Faction, F.E.A.R. and more.

With PC mirroring via GEM Stream, players can use the EMTEC GEM Box as a hub to stream their entire catalog of PC games to any monitor in the house. To add even more options, the exclusive GEM Store is curated by the team at EMTEC and rotates each month, featuring hand-selected Android games optimized for gamepad play that are organized by theme like Action, Family Friendly, Racing and RPG. Plus the integrated parental controls with password protection let parents determine which games are appropriate for their children. And with millions of inexpensive and free games available on the Google Play store, the choices are nearly limitless.

Beyond gaming, the EMTEC GEM Box grants access to millions of Android apps, media services and entertainment apps including YouTube, Pandora and Spotify.
