They’re literally saying his money is no good to them by doing this. Wow.
Late last year, EA banned FIFA player Kurt “Kurt0411” Fenech from playing in FIFA 20 tournaments. It seems that ban didn’t have the desired result, though, since they have now banned him from all of their games and services. They provided their statement on Twitter:
An Important message regarding FIFA player Kurt0411. pic.twitter.com/RcHu1hMCup
— Electronic Arts (@EA) February 24, 2020
In essence, it’s basically impossible to deny that they had no right, given the allegations. Not only is Fenech implied to have been abusive to his fellow players as well as EA employees, he apparently didn’t stop… and neither did his fans. Fans that supposedly hacked several EA employee Twitter accounts to post messages of support for Fenech post-ban.
Fenech has a large following on both YouTube and Twitter, where he frequently criticizes their handling of FIFA and regularly accuses EA of “tyranny” and “bullshit”. To be fair, he might not be wrong about the latter. Take, for example, one of their games: The Sims 4. That is a game which, digitally, still goes for an MSRP of $50; not unexpected for digital though, honestly. What is happens to be the fact that the game has several hundred dollars worth of DLC, much of which looks like it should’ve been baked into the base game. It’s hard to call that anything but bullshit.
On the other hand, it’s hard to deny that he probably earned that ban. Mostly because this is a company that is all about that money. I bet they’re willing to cut someone that otherwise is still willing to pay for their products loose, that probably means something, genuinely.
Fenech responded to the Monday ban by alleging a conspiracy on his Twitter:
There’s probably a lot that’s going to happen in regards to this event in the next few days. EA has refused to comment aside from their original public statement.
