Drew Goddard to write and direct ‪‎Spider-Man‬ reboot

spider-man vs iron man

Drew Goddard, who was tapped to direct the upcoming Sinister Six movie and writer veteran of Buffy and Angel, the writer of Cloverfield, and the director of Cabin in the Woods, is set to direct the new Spider-Man reboot film for Marvel/Sony.

LatinoReview is breaking the news that the film will likely star a young unknown actor in the role of Peter Parker so that he can grow alongside the planned trilogy. They also note the following major points regarding the film:

  • No new origin story, Spidey exists from the beginning, taken as a given
  • New actor, probably an unknown, he will be specifically based in High School and they want him to be able to grow up into the role.  The thought being if this works, Spidey can do multiple trilogies for years ala Harry Potter.
  • A major part of the first film will involve Spider- Man fighting Iron Man and then trying to pass the “audition” to join the Avengers
  • The first film will involved the Sinister Six coming together with the thought to later maybe spin them off.
  • All other Spidey-verse films have been axed, including that Aunt May film.

Did you read that! Spider-Man will be going toe-to-toe with Iron Man as he tries to get into the Avengers. No word if Robert Downey Jr. will have another go at the role, but we’d sure love to see him give a uni-beam blast to old (err, young) web-head.
