DB Babies, we make our fights come true.
A new Dragon Ball series titled Dragon Ball: Daima has been announced at New York Comic Con, complete with a teaser. The series is scheduled for Fall 2024.
People immediately drew the comparison to Dragon Ball GT, as it has the majority of the cast being reverted to childhood. The difference is that the only canon thing about GT is Vegeta’s mustache and, technically, Pan. This time, Toriyama’s actually involved “beyond his usual capacity”, though, so this is canon. Daima also promises to be a completely original story “never told in Dragon Ball“, which probably won’t totally shake the GT comparison, but still worthy of note.
They’re clearly going for deep cuts, because among the de-aged cast, you see a shot of this guy, who hasn’t been a thing in the series since the King Piccolo saga in OG Dragon Ball.
It’s also nice to see that Goku’s actually using Nyoibo in this one again. You know, considering it was an essential part of his kit for roughly half of Dragon Ball before disappearing for most of Z (yes I know why). One does wonder what this means for the yet-unadapted parts of Dragon Ball Super, but given the whole “animation lead time” thing, it’s not impossible that it’s in the tube.
