Ant-Man was something of a surprise success for Marvel Studios. Mostly due to the fact that Ant-Man, despite being one of the founding members of The Avengers, wasn’t usually counted among Marvel’s A- or B-stringers. Happens when you cant really anchor a series, really. Just ask Namor.
And conspicuously, Disney didn’t move on making a series for the character after that success, as it did with many of Marvel’s other properties. Well, it’s happening now; in appropriate size, to boot. Courtesy of Ugo Bienvenu and Kevin Manach, a series of Ant-Man shorts will air this weekend on Disney XD. And they’re freaking beautiful.
The shorts literally look like a silver age comic brought to life; apropos, since that was the era in which Marvel made its big splash. It’s also not the first time Bienvenu and Manach have animated something in that style. The shorts are slated to air this weekend, but Disney XD has uploaded the first three Ant-Man shorts to their YouTube channel. You can see them below:
