It don’t matter. None of this matters.
Disney’s decided to add on to the cast of The Mandalorian in season 2. Namely, they’ve already cast Rosario Dawson and Katee Sackhoff as Ahsoka Tano and Bo-Katan Kryze, respectively. And rumor has it that they’re looking for a live-action Ezra Bridger (From Star Wars: Rebels) to go with them. That said, he won’t be appearing in season 2 of The Mandalorian alongside them: the idea that he’ll be in a separate series is floating around.
Granted, it’s since been revealed that Ezra and Thrawn survived their trip with the hyperspace whales. And according to The Illuminerdi, Disney is looking to cast an actor to portray the character, potentially answering whatever questions fans have had since then. Supposedly they’re looking for “a male, between the ages of 30 to 40. They are looking for an actor of color, specifically performers of Asian descent, however they are open to Indian, Latino, or Middle Eastern actors as well”. Which is kind of a broad casting call.
Granted, none of this is certain. It could all be a crock. But hey, that’s industry news right now.
