Diablo 4 Director, Lead Level Designer, and WoW Designer Leave Company Amid Activision Blizzard Suit

EVERY VOICE MATTERS

In the wake of the growing lawsuit related to Activision Blizzard’s corporate atmosphere, several longtime employees from fairly high in the chain have officially departed. They are Diablo 4 director Luis Barriga, lead level designer Jesse McCree, and World of Warcraft designer Jonathan LeCraft. Per a statement from a representative:

We can confirm Luis Barriga, Jesse McCree, and Jonathan LeCraft are no longer with the company. We have a deep, talented roster of developers already in place and new leaders have been assigned where appropriate. We are confident in our ability to continue progress, deliver amazing experiences to our players, and move forward to ensure a safe, productive work environment for all.

Barriga had been with the company for 15 years, previously working as a quest and systems designer, as well as a lead game designer on World of Warcraft. LeCraft was a senior game designer on World of Warcraft, having been at the company since 2005 and on the WoW team since The Burning Crusade.

McCree has also been with the company since 2005, having worked on Diablo 3 and multiple WoW expansions. Notably, he has a number of WoW NPCs named after him, but the largest character to bear his namesake would be Overwatch‘s Jesse McCree. McCree was among those involved in the Cosby Suite group chats, leading some to want his name removed from all of these characters.

No doubt they won’t be the last to depart the company. Going forward, even more may come to light…
