Quantic Dream, the French studio that really just wants to make movies but isn’t quite good enough and instead brings us mostly boring non-games, has been ordered to pay $7,753 to a former employee at the company.
A French judge ordered the studio to pay up because it found that the Quantic Dream infringed on the security of an employee when they remained “passive” when vulgar images were passed around the studio. The judge called the images “homophobic, misogynistic, racist, or deeply vulgar” and condemned the studio for not stepping in and doing something about them.
“By remaining passive in the face of this more than questionable practice, which can not be justified by the ‘humorous’ spirit prevailing in society, the employer has committed a breach of the security obligation [vis-à-vis its employees],” said the judge in a released statement.
The studio released its own statement on Twitter where it said it had no plans to appeal the decision of the court.
