Deleted Fantastic Four (2005) Movie Wolverine Cameo Circulates Online

Wolverine

Ohhhhhhhhhh, no.

Nowadays, it’s common to expect cameos, even full-blown inter-company crossovers, in your comic book movies. But back in 2005, not so much.

So, naturally, when a deleted scene from 2005’s Fantastic Four shows up featuring Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine. well, it gets noticed. The deleted scene features Mr. Fantastic (Ioan Gruffudd) speaking to Sue Storm (Jessica Alba), asking if she wanted a stronger man. At which point he uses his stretchy powers (unfinished mid ’00’s CGI) to morph into Wolverine (Hugh Jackman).

The scene was clearly dropped before the CGI was finished. Still, it’s like some sort of horrible wreck; you can’t really look away, or stop noticing that Gruffudd’s eyes look wrong when he morphs into Jackman. That said, the shot is still in the movie; they just changed it to Reed making his jaw larger, rather than the whole Face/Off thing they were originally going for.

Still, there’s a new Fantastic Four movie on the way. And with Jackman returning to the role for the upcoming Deadpool 3, now it’s not so crazy to think that there might be shared screen time with the Fantastic Four. There’s no hard news on who they’ve cast for Marvel’s first family yet (Personally, Dr. strange happened to cast my pick for Reed). Though it doesn’t matter who they cast, my Dad is still going to keep calling Johnny Storm “Johnny Flame”.
