Dead By Daylight Is Selling Models As NFTs, To The Approval Of No One

Dead by Daylight

Fun Fact: Clive Barker hates it when people refer to the Hell Priest as “Pinhead”.

Let’s start by clarifying: I hate NFT’s, and I’ve never played Dead by Daylight.

That’s probably a good thing, for me at least. Because people that do play DBD are probably quite upset to find that the studio behind the game, Behaviour, is selling NFTs of the in-game models. To be specific, here, Boss Protocol, which is related to Boss Team Games (the group in charge of managing the licensing rights to Hellraiser) in… some way, is selling NFTs of the in-game models for head Cenobite from Hellraiser, colloquially known as Pinhead (no relation). The ownership of which offers you a chance, a chance, of accessing the Hellraiser chapter of Dead by Daylight; at least, for some of them.

Will any Dead by Daylight content be locked behind a Boss Protocol NFT or require a Boss Protocol NFT to access?

No.  The access granted via some of the Pinhead NFTs in this collection is to the Hellraiser chapter of Dead by Daylight on PC and there is no other DBD content that can be unlocked with the NFT.  The NFTs exist as unique digital collectibles and have added benefits like rewarding certain owners with signed collectibles, and other benefits that will be revealed and delivered in the future.

It’s not just fans that are opposed to this, for , well, take your pick of reasons. A former programmer for the game itself has stated his distaste for the whole affair.

And, if they aren’t super careful, Valve might just give them the boot from Steam. Because they’re currently taking a pretty dim view of any games that utilize blockchain technology for purposes like cryptocurrency and NFTs.
