The tenth Doctor is making another regeneration, this time into the shoes of Zebediah Killgrave, better known to Marvel fans as The Purple Man. Tennant will play this new villainous role in the upcoming Marvel series A.K.A. Jessica Jones for Netflix.
Tennant joins Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones) and Mike Colter (Luke Cage) on the upcoming series based on these street level Marvel characters. The Purple Man plays a large role throughout the life of Jessica Jones in the Marvel comics series, so we can expect him to take center stage, at least in some capacity, with this new television take.
Marvel has released the official series overview as, “After a tragic ending to her short-lived superhero stint, Jessica Jones is rebuilding her personal life and career as a detective who gets pulled into cases involving people with extraordinary abilities in New York City. An enigmatic figure from Jessica’s past, Killgrave’s reappearance will send shockwaves through the former super hero’s world. The 13-episode series will premier on Netfilx in 2015.”
Killgrave is not only a major part of the Jessica Jones story-arc in the comics, leading to a number of terrible events for the hero, but was also a Daredevil villain. While we don’t know if he will appear in that series, he did force Jones to fight Daredevil at one point in the comics, it’s safe to say there might be some crossover. A.K.A. Jessica Jones hits Netflix sometime in 2015.
