Criminal Minds Star Thomas Gibson Has Been Fired

Criminal Minds

The BAU team is taking another hit as Criminal Minds star Thomas Gibson has been fired from the show. Gibson is an original cast member, but will not be making his return with the show on September 28th.

Arguably the glue that holds Criminal Minds together, Gibson was let go after a physical altercation on-set with one of the shows producers.

Thomas Gibson has been dismissed from Criminal Minds,” ABC Studios and CBS Studios said in a statement.  “Creative details for how the character’s exit will be addressed in the show will be announced at a later date.”

Gibson has been playing Aaron Hotchner since the show première in 2005. The suspension occurred in July after the incident occurred. Gibson kicked a writer in the shin over “creative  differences” while filming an episode of the show. The actor has been missing from set for the past two weeks while the studio decided his ultimate fate.

I love Criminal Minds and have put my heart and soul into it for the last twelve years. I had hoped to see it through to the end, but that won’t be possible now,” Gibson said in a statement following his departure. “I would just like to say thank you to the writers, producers, actors, our amazing crew, and, most importantly, the best fans that a show could ever hope to have.

Gibson’s departure comes on the heels of Shemar Moore, another original cast member, who left the show at the close of last season to spend more time on having a family.
