Cops Put The Brakes On Amazon’s 30¢ Ms. Maisel Gas Promotion

The Marvelous Ms. Maisel

Gas for 30¢?! What could possibly go wrong?!

It seems a promotion for Amazon’s The Marvelous Ms. Maisel was a bit too popular for its own good. The promotion, set to run for one day, had Los Angeles-area gas stations, among other things, sell gas for the price it was in 1959, the year the show is set in. The promotion was meant to drum up even more support in the wake of the show’s Emmy run.

Coincidentally, the promotion highlights why gas stations don’t do Black Friday sales.

The Santa Monica police, of course, had to shut it down. The traffic lines it caused were in excess of even L.A. tolerances. That said, it wouldn’t be surprising to find that Amazon’s happy with how things went. The Marvelous Ms. Maisel is currently up for over 20 Emmy nominations.
