ROUND 1
Pretty much everybody took a shot at the recently revealed logo for Street Fighter 6. And, as it turns out, it’s actually possible that it’s simply a modified stock asset for Adobe Photoshop.
As pointed out by Ars Technica’s Aurich Lawson, the logo bears a little more than a passing resemblance to a logo design on the Adobe Stock image store. Created by user xcoolee, the logo normally costs $79.99 for an extended license, and comes as an Adobe Illustrator file, meaning that it’s easily modifiable. As a matter of fact, it’s been used before, in particular for a French sci-fi convention, SF Connexion.
IGN got in touch with xcoolee, and that’s where this takes a bit of a turn. Normally, when this sort of thing happens, the logo gets changed, or there’s threats of a lawsuit. But in this case, xcoolee seems to want to delist the logo for sale to other parties, and sell the exclusive rights to it to Capcom. They’ve yet to comment.
That said, it’s not exactly like the community was much of a fan of the logo. All and sundry pretty much jumped on the bandwagon to point out just how much… less it was compared to previous logos in the series. So who knows how Capcom’s going to go with this?
