Comic-Con 2019: Marvel Announces Phase 4 Movies And Shows

It’s Fantastic.

Rounding out much of the Comic-Con festivities, Marvel Studios had their conference. And they announced Phase 4, and what would constitute it. And they did so mostly in prospective release order.

Black Widow – May 1, 2020

The movie, set in the character’s occasionally talked about past, will feature Dave Harbour as Red Guardian, and will have Taskmaster as the villain.

The Eternals – November 6, 2020

It’s stated to be something different, with Kevin Feige declaring “The film is full of Jack Kirby”. Features Angelina Jolie as Thena, Salma Hayek as Ajak, Lia McHugh as Sprite, and Don Lee as Gilgamesh.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier – Fall 2020

Exactly what you’d expect from the name. It’ll show the struggles of Anthony Mackie’s Falcon doing everything he can to fill some big shoes. The series is set for Disney+.

Shang-chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings – February 12, 2021

According to Kevin Feige, The Mandarin (the real one) will be in this film, played by Tony Leung. Kind of a shame Tony Stark is dead, now.

WandaVision – Spring 2021

TV series for Disney+ featuring Scarlet Witch. Feige describes the show as strange, with Elizabeth Olson saying “We’re going to get weird, we’re going to go very deep.”

Loki – Spring 2021

Also a Disney+ show, it’ll show off what happened to Loki after getting the Tesseract in Avengers: Endgame.

Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness – May 7, 2021

The first Dr. Strange sequel. It’ll feature some psychedelic imagery, and play hard to the gothic horror roots of the character. States director Scott Derrickson, “If I’m going to do it, it’s going to have to do what the comics did”.

Marvel’s What If…? – Summer 2021

The previously announced animated anthology series headed to Disney+. Will feature Jeffrey Wright as The Watcher.

Hawkeye – Fall 2021

Disney+ series focused on Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye. Supposedly will give us a better idea of what he did during his time as Ronin between Infinity War and Endgame.

Thor: Love and Thunder – November 5, 2021

They’re bringing back Natalie Portman as Jane Foster (as Thor). Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson will reprise their roles.

Blade

Oh yeah. They’ve announced Mahershala Ali as the titular Blade. No word on how pissed Wesley Snipes is, but the recast may be for the best.

In addition to the phase 4 announcements, Kevin Feige confirmed the sequels Black Panther 2, Captain Marvel 2, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. But, notably, he also announced a Fantastic Four movie is in the works. He also dangled the possibility of the X-Men.
