Remember Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them? It was a textbook at Hogwarts. It was also the title of a 54-page book that J.K. Rowling published in 2001, in between Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. And now it’s going to be a movie! Wait, scratch that. Now it’s going to be three movies.
Via Variety:
Set initially in New York about seven decades before the start of the Harry Potter story, the films will follow magizoologist Newt Scamander. They’re not prequels or sequels, but an “extension of the wizarding world.”
Oh good, at least the main character has a stupid name. I was worried we’d be stuck with the measly hundred or so stupidly named characters Rowling has already gifted us with (unless you think there’s a defense for characters with names like Cornelius Fudge and Barty Crouch).
Also, The Hobbit is about 300 pages long and no one will shut up about how it shouldn’t be a trilogy. I can’t wait to hear the reaction over this.
