Classic arcade inspired hockey game ‘Old Time Hockey’ skates onto PS4 and PC this March

Reading all my work on here you might be surprised to see me covering a sports game; Let along a hockey based video game. But what you , and many, may not know is that I’m a huge arcade hockey game fan, with 2 on 2 Open Ice Challenge being a classic in my eyes. Hell, I even still have my copy for the PC on the shelf behind me.

So when V7 Entertainment Inc. announced that Old Time Hockey will be officially launching on Steam and PS4, March 28, I got pretty excited. Well, I got them after check out the gameplay trailer and flashing back to when hockey games were less sim and more unabashed fun.

Old Time Hockey channels classic arcade style action (NHL 94, Blades of Steel, and Tecmo Bowl to name a few) with an old-school aesthetic from the 70’s era. No helmets, bench clearing brawls, and way too many mustaches to count can all be found in the Bush Hockey League.

Control schemes range from arcade 2-button controls, beer mode (one-handed) control scheme to more modern style. Play competitively or cooperatively on the couch with your friends in arcade mode, or take to the ice as the worst team in the Bush Hockey League in the hijinks-filled story mode!

But the best thing is that the game is heading to PC via Steam! That may not sound all that important in this day and age, but you have to remember that it’s been years since a hockey game called the PC home. For more information on the game and a full list of the interesting teams, head to www.arcadehockey.com .
