CES 2023: Ring Shows Off New Dash Camera

Our new dash cameras are really cool.

If you’re in the market for a new dash cam, you’re in luck. Ring showed off a new dash cam at CES this year, and it has a number of useful features that might just put it above the common dash cam. They’re also bringing back their Ring peephole camera for those that can’t add a doorbell camera to their home.

But first, the dash cam. Dubbed the Ring Car Cam, it’s controlled by the Ring smartphone app like all of their product, including the typical features thereof. It has a dual-facing camera that isn’t intrusive for the driver, either. It can record both while you’re driving or parked. It comes with sensors to detect break-ins and accidents that happen when you’re away from your car, which trigger a recording and a notification sent to your phone. It even provides two-way talk so that you can address whoever happens to be in your car at the time.

Also included is the Traffic Stop feature. If you’re pulled over or otherwise need to record your surroundings, you can simply say “Alexa, record”. The camera will then record the next few minutes of whatever is happening around you, regardless of if you are moving or stopped.

Also at CES was the return of the King Ring Peephole Cam. This one was discontinued in April 2021, but is back by popular demand. It can replace the standard peephole of the average door with basically no modifications to the existing hardware; great for renters or apartments where the normal Ring doorbell cam can’t be installed. The best part is that it’s available to order now for $129.99; a full $70 less than the pre-discontinuation model.
