By the time Pride and Prejudice and Zombies hits theaters, I predict that we as a nation will have long since gotten tired of zombies, so consider my schadenfreude clock ticking. I’m sorry, I know I’m supposed to be objective, but I have this irrational vendetta against Zombies author Seth Grahame-Smith.
Burr Steers (Igby Goes Down, 17 Again) is directing the film, which also stars Downton Abbey‘s Lily James, Boardwalk Empire‘s Jack Huston, and Doctor Who‘s Matt Smith, who singlehandedly ensured that every Comic Con from now until the heat death of the universe will be filled with assholes wearing bow ties and Fez hats. Anyway, Game of Thrones’ Lena Headey and Charles Dance have signed on as well, in unspecified roles.
Ain’t it Cool is reporting the news, and they go on to speculate:
It hasn’t been announced just who they’re playing, but my guess is that Dance is playing Mr. Bennet, father to the main character of Elizabeth, and that Headey’s lined up for Lady Catherine de Bourgh, Mr. Darcy’s wealthy (and domineering) aunt.
I can’t speak to that, but based on the character descriptions alone I’d have to agree. We’ll keep you up to date on this as we learn more.
