Castlevania Series is Finally Happening on Netflix

If you’re a Castlevania fan, chances are pretty good you remember the script that floated around in the late 2000’s for a movie. It had it all: Trevor Belmont, naked Alucard, and to my recollection, a casual bestiality joke at the expense of a taverngoer (and the goat he loves). For many a year, it seemed the project was dead in the water.

Well, it seems Netflix picked the Castlevania up as a series. Written by Warren Ellis, and helmed by Adi Shankar, the animated series is poised to defy the reputation video game adaptations have, somewhat rightfully, earned. “I personally guarantee that it will end the streak and be the western world’s first good video game adaptation,” vowes Shankar.

Castlevania debuts July 7th. Netflix is so confident in its quality, they’ve already ordered a second season.
