One of the big things that defined my childhood would be the proliferation of giant anime mech suits. These things were everywhere, from comics to television, to even mainstream movies in all sorts of forms. While we pictured the future a number of fantastic ways, the idea of actually being able to pilot one of the mechs was never really something we thought could be done. I honestly figured we’d have technology along the lines of Star Trek before we had Gundam like mechs flying around all over the place. Well, it looks like my idea of that impossible future has now finally come true.
The Kuratas mech suit is here and ready for purchase. The mech a 13-foot-tall tribute to classic anime that you can actually pilot to your heart’s content. The suit can be officially ordered through Amazon Japan (those guys really do sell everything) if you can pony up the very reasonable $1 million. The only stipulation is that you have to live in the Kyoto region of Japan as I’m sure Amazon doesn’t yet have boxes big enough to fit one of these guys in them. I should also note the suit is just a starter kit so you better know your way around putting together big mechanical things. Even you fit the bill on all those points you are still going to have to hurry as the team has only one unit available. No word if the armament displayed is included.
