I mean, Brendan Fraser is already in the DC universe…
It has been announced that Brendan Fraser will play Firefly in Warner’s upcoming Batgirl film, opposite Leslie Grace as the titular Batgirl. Firefly is a villain known for, well, setting things on fire.
While the plot is not yet known, J.K. Simmons will be reprising his role as Commissioner Gordon from Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Obvious given the setting and the fact that the Commissioner’s daughter, Barbara Gordon, is Batgirl.
The movie is being helmed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah (Bad Boys for Life). Christina Hodson (Bumblebee, The Flash) is handling the screenplay.
Batgirl is going to be one to keep an eye on, as it’s skipping theaters entirely, premiering on HBO Max sometime in 2022. Notably, Fraser portrays Cliff Steele/Robotman in HBO Max’s Doom Patrol, which is currently running its third season on the service (though admittedly, the bulk of the role has been voiceover for Fraser).
