Bond 24 gets a cast and a title

From Pinewood Studios in London, Bond director Sam Mendes and longtime producer Barbara Broccoli held a live-streamed press conference to dole out some information about the 24th James Bond film, which we can all stop calling Bond 24, because the official title is SPECTRE.

When I first read that, well, I was excited, as any Bond fan should be, but more than that I was impressed. This franchise has so much faith in itself and its fanbase that it can just go with a one-word title and trust that if fans see a trailer with Daniel Craig ordering a martini, they’ll know it’s a Bond film, instead of having to call it James Bond: SPECTRE. Franchise titles are getting so stupid now, which is why we have shit like The Divergent Series: Insurgent – The Sequel to Divergent (Tris is in This One, We Swear).

Anyway, rant over. Some casting announcements were made as well; in addition to returning players Daniel Craig, Naomie Harris, Ralph Fiennes, and Ben Whishaw, SPECTRE will star the previously announced Andrew Scott, as well as Christoph Waltz, Lea Seydoux (Blue is the Warmest Color), Dave Bautista, and Monica Bellucci.

SPECTRE hits theates on November 6, 2015. Thanks to Uproxx for the heads up.
