Blizzard Working on New Diablo Project

Repel the demonic apocalypse a little longer.

Blizzard sort of let on that there was a Diablo project in the works back at Blizzcon 2017. But they made no actual announcements at the time. That said, they seem to be gearing up for this project now, as a number of job listings on the Blizzard careers site make make reference to Diablo and an unannounced project.

For example, the Dungeon Artist, Diablo position leads with:

The minions of Hell are growing stronger…

We’re working on a new, unannounced Diablo project. Are you a skilled Dungeon Artist? Come work with us, and together we will build something exceptional.

Most of the other listings begin with the same “The minions of Hell are growing stronger” line. As to what the project actually is, well, that’s up in the air. It would make sense for them to start hiring talented types if they were giving Diablo 2 the remastered treatment. Mostly as a large amount of the assets from the original game are gone, and replicating them will be a task. But it could also be Diablo 4.

Regardless of what it turns out to be, it won’t be at E3. Blizzard tends to make these sorts of announcements at their own Blizzcon. So maybe at this year’s Blizzcon…
