Aah, so it’s like that, huh. I understand everything now.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel has finally found the right director for the Black Widow stand-alone. Australian director Cate Shortland (best known for her work on Lore) has landed the gig. She was selected out of a half-year long process that involved over 70 directors.
A female director was considered a priority, though the studio eyed some male candidates when the search stalled a bit. Nonetheless, Shortland had a fan in Scarlett Johansson, who pushed for her. Mostly due to being a fan of her directing in Lore.
