Inspired by the bestselling PC game of all time, Cheverton’s series invites young readers to fully immerse themselves in the Minecraft universe. At the end of the week, three lucky raffle winners will be selected as the inspiration for a NEW character in his next book.
Cheverton was inspired to write the series after he learned his own son was being cyberbullied. He used the stories to help his son learn how to deal with bullies on the playground, in the classroom, and in the world of Minecraft (where the character GameKnight999 is saving the world).
Night Shade authors Barron, Datlow, and Martinez are brought together by the heavy influence of Lovecraft’s Cthulu myth on their writing. True Detective creator Nic Pizzolatto credits Laird Barron (“The scariest writer on the planet” —B&N Book Blog) as an inspiration for the show. Ellen Datlow is best known for her Best Horror of the Year anthology (“Horror’s undisputed queen … she’s the best at what she does.” —Complex). A stunning LEGO diorama of Comic Con itself, created by Jeff Friesen, author of United States of LEGO, will also be on display. And on Sunday, Skyhorse will host a LEGO play center for kids.
