DotEmu, the publisher specializing in modern releases of retro games has announced the upcoming release of the NEO GEO masterpiece “NEO TURF MASTERS” golf title on mobile devices, as an officially licensed title from the Japanese video game maker SNK PLAYMORE! This much-loved golf game will be available June 30 for iOS and Android.
If you haven’t played the original arcade game you really missed out! Think that gorgeous SNK art style mixed with fast-paced, and fun golfing mechanics. In fact, I’m going to fire up the Neo Geo here in the office and play it right after I finish this post!
Originally released in 1996, “NEO TURF MASTERS” (also known as “BIG TOURNAMENT GOLF” in Japan) is an arcade classic that touched an entire generation. Competing as one of six golfers of different skills and nationalities on different courses worldwide, players choose their club, analyze the wind direction, and find the best path to finishing each hole in as few shots as possible.

Easy to learn but extremely difficult to master (just like real golf), “NEO TURF MASTERS” is a game that brings big-time pleasure to die-hard golf fans and casual players alike.
Tee it up June 30 on iOS and Android, and watch out for the rough!
No word on how the game itself will play on mobiles, but since Neo Turf Masters used the standard Neo Geo joystick and buttons we can imagine the basic onscreen layout. Since this isn’t a fighting game (a shocker for the Neo Geo) the controls should, in theory, work just fine as the game didn’t require fighting game quickness.
