Benedict Cumberbatch is joining another larger than life world. The actor is supposedly in final negotiations to play Doctor Strange for Marvel. Most recently, Joaquin Phoenix was attached to the role, but would not commit to a multi-film contract which Marvel is known to ask for from its stars.
Cumberbatch was one of the names that floated around from Marvel on their short list of actors to play Marvels Sorcerer Supreme. It will mark the first time that Marvel Studios sees a supernatural presence enter their connected movie world that has up until now been based in technology and science (outside of Thor).
While we still don’t have official conformation on the casting (a lot of these things depends on scheduling and time matters), we are excited to see what Cumberbatch can bring to the role.
