What Would E.T. Do?

Atari was supposed to be readying the pre-order process for the Ataribox Indiegogo campaign today. But all supporters got was an email saying that the campaign was currently on hold for the time being. The statement in the email reads:

The countdown to the Ataribox launch on Indiegogo has been officially paused. Because of one key element on our checklist, it is taking more time to create the platform and ecosystem the Atari community deserves. Building Ataribox is incredibly important to us and we will do whatever it takes to be sure it is worth the wait.

That’s kind of a bummer, especially as this is the company’s first bit of hardware in over 20 years. Nonetheless, it’s probably best they take their time. Shoving something out half-baked after all this time wouldn’t do them much good, after all.
