AppleCare+ Turns Into Monthly Subscription

Who needs to pay for two years when you can pay each and every month forever until you die

AplleCare+ is one of those things that Apple loves to sell you or they won’t even look at the device they sold you that probably stopped working because of the shitty construction and corner-cutting they like to do to get a product pushed out.

This little program usually is bought for peace of mind and lasts for two years. Accidental damage, hardware issues, or things going on the fritz are covered with an AppleCare+ plan. I’ve never bothered with an AppleCare+ plan but I like dancing with the Devil and takking risks.

You’ll still be able to buy an AppleCare+ upfront just like you would normally but Apple is now offering it as a subscription service. This means you can still keep paying past the two years and continue to be covered, at least until Apple cuts off the service for “legacy” devices.

But don’t think this is Apple being the consumer-friendly as the numbers show that people who sign up for a subscription will probably end up paying more for AppleCare+ since odds are they will forget about it and continue paying past the two years.

We don’t know the monthly price, and won’t until the new(?) iPhone 11 series drops later this month. Here’s to Apple becoming the Netflix of electronics instead of the innovators they used to be.
