Kinda more than looks it, honestly.
Alienware is well known for their gaming desktops and laptops. But they decided to branch out at CES this year. They showed off a handheld Windows 10 gaming PC, called the Concept UFO, that, well, looks a lot like a Nintendo Switch.
To e fair, it doesn’t just look like the Switch. It kinda has similar functionality. It features a central, screen body, two detachable controllers on either side that lock in via a magnetic rail system, and a “hub”: a controller grip. You can play on the go, or export your play to a connected monitor of choice via USB-C. As there’s more than one port, you can also connect a mouse and keyboard.
And that might be the crux behind the product. It’s capable of bridging the gap between consoles and PCs fairly well. Well, that is, despite the fact that Alienware isn’t letting anyone know what’s under the hood.
All that said, there’s no telling if the Concept UFO will ever roll out the gate proper. If it doesn’t generate the word the expect, it may never get off the ground. Still, it does offer a vision of what the future of PC gaming might be.
