The Hollywood Reporter has picked out the 10 pilots for the coming season that will probably get a full series order. What does this have to do with Agent Carter? Well, number three on their list is a show called Conviction that just happens to star one Hayley Atwell, who starred as Agent Carter on the self-titled Marvel show.
Agent Carter is a good show, but it just shows the perils of network television. Where Agents of SHIELD has found its footing after a slow start, Agent Carter isn’t being afforded the time to develop. Can you imagine if Agents of SHIELD were canceled before it got to its solid Inhumans/Hive arc that’s going on?
Agent Carter’s problems are an issue for what was once a near lock in Marvel’s Most Wanted. The show would have been an Agents of SHIELD spin-off featuring Bobbi Morse (Adrianne Palicki) and Lance Hunter (Nick Blood) in want didn’t seem like a very exciting prospect.
It’s hard to say why the Marvel and Netflix properties are doing so incredibly well, but their network offerings have been slow to connect. Maybe it’s a sign that Marvel properties are best suited for the freedom that a service like Netflix affords.
